The airport in Delhi is famously called as a Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). It is regarded as one of the major gateways to India and it connects North India with the rest of the world. This airport is one of the busiest airport of the country that caters to both international and domestic travellers. It stands first in terms of daily flight operations and it is second busiest in terms of passenger volume. Earlier it was run by the IAF and formed a part of the Palam Airpor. Later on, it was transferred to the Airport Authority of India. In 2006, the management of the airport was passed on to Delhi International Airport Limited.

Delhi Airport Airport Structure – There are four terminals at the Delhi airport. They are designated as Terminal 1A, 1B, 1C & 1D. Terminal 1A offers the services to the domestic flights of Go Air, Indian Airlines and Air India Regional. The terminal caters to the requirements of flights of scheduled private airlines like IndiGo, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airline, Kingfisher Red, JetLite, and SpiceJet in addition to other executive aircraft/ private aviation activities. Terminal 1B was closed after terminal 1D has commenced its operations. The Terminal 1C caters to the arrivals of the airlines which are operated from Terminal 1A & 1D. The International Terminal (Terminal 2) offers services to the airlines which fly to major cities worldwide. Apart from this, the airport has a cargo terminal for handling the cargo operations and there is a separate Hajj terminal that caters to the rush at a time of Hajj.

Airlines – IGI Airport is being serviced by around 60 airlines. It is serving as the main hub of SpiceJet, Air India Regional, Indian Airlines, and IndiGo Airlines. It also acts as a second base of Air India and Jet Airways .
